Back in the early 2000's, there were a lot of webcomics online that seemed to be more or less the same thing (my own comic strip included).  A lot of them featured "two guys" hanging out, referencing pop culture, etc.  This comic was done for a webcomic called Normal Guy (which is miraculously still online somehow), but I think if I substituted my own RWWR characters in there (or Movie Comics), no one would even know the difference.

What I'm getting at (I guess) is that we were all just following in Penny Arcade's footsteps, and we all did a very poor job of doing it.
