Dirk was my esteemed compatriot at Clemens Family Markets.  I feel that the two of us have only survived working there purely due to each other's abilities to mock the situations that place thrust us in.  Naturally, after he decided to leave, I began to shrivel up and die like fruit left on the vine.

 

However, before he departed, we fulfilled one of our (co-worker's) dreams to work together on a project.  Dirk is quite the talented writer (in case you didn't pick that up from the 'Foreword'), and he decided to pen the script to this comic to serve as his farewell to his co-workers.  He's a man of classical tastes, and we chose to illustrate that in this particular strip.
