At the time of this strip, I believe we were facing some scrutiny from readers who accused us of lifting ideas from other comic strips.  While we always felt we were producing original material, it didn't stop some readers from making baseless allegations and implications in an attempt to prove otherwise (apparently we were not the first people on earth to joke about gouging our own eyes out utilizing a pointy instrument such as a fork...)

 

This comic is deliberately parodying a Penny Arcade strip to show our frustration on the whole manner.
