As terrible and absurd as this comic is, the events acted out here actually happened.  There was a (short)  period of time where Jim "flirted" with ladies by coming onto them comically strong, and then doing something (flatulence not excluded) that would be quite the contrary.

 

It's not a bad strategy, in retrospect, though it could've used some tweaking.  I'm sure it's hard for most ladies to find someone attractive while their nostrils are being physically assaulted by your noxious fumes.

 

And should a woman fight through that to accept your advances, I'm not sure you would really want someone that desperate.
